Mirage examines how culture shapes the body and how the body responds in return. Through photography and sculpture, the work moves between desire, restraint and consumption, questioning the unstable boundary between freedom and expectation.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jiayin Lu is a mixed-media artist working across photography, sculpture and moving image. Her practice explores how culture, desire and social expectations shape the body and influence ideas of femininity, freedom and selfhood. Drawing from her experience of living between Eastern and Western contexts, she creates ambiguous visual environments where intimacy, restraint, attraction and consumption coexist.
