This project involved the production of a series of custom tear bottles, with particular attention given to the contrast between transparent colour and metallic surface quality.

For the bottle bodies, we used transparent blue PLA, adjusting the print setup to retain a clean blue tone while preserving enough translucency for the contents of the bottle to remain visible once filled with water.

The caps were produced separately using silver Silk+ filament. Rather than relying on the material alone, we developed a dedicated print setup to enhance the filament’s natural sheen and create a more convincing metallic appearance across a series of different cap designs.

By separating the object into different material and surface requirements, the final pieces combine a translucent, glass-like body with a more reflective metallic top, while remaining fully produced through FDM fabrication.
